EmpowerHER is an EU-funded project under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). It brings together partners from Italy, Spain, and Greece, key countries of arrival for migrant women, to strengthen women’s agency, economic independence, and social participation, while working to break the cycle of exploitation and trafficking.

Through research and needs assessment, study visits, local workshops, mentoring, and community events, EmpowerHER seeks to build a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by female victims of human trafficking in the key arrival countries. Drawing on these insights, the project will develop a unified European best practice guide while also equipping women with the tools to know their civic rights, strengthen their skills, access employment, and gain the confidence to lead change in their communities.
At the same time, the project fosters knowledge exchange between organizations across the Euro-Mediterranean region working on migration, Human trafficking, gender equality, and social inclusion, creating a stronger ecosystem of support and innovation.
Current Phase
The project is in the research and internal capacity-building phase. Partners are conducting study visits and workshops to gather insights into the realities faced by young migrant and refugee women. This evidence will inform the creation of a Best Practices Guide and tailored capacity-building programs.

- Capacity-building trainings (2026): Courses on civic participation, language learning, economic integration, and entrepreneurship tailored for young migrant women.
- Best Practices Guide: A practical toolkit for organizations, policymakers, and practitioners supporting women’s integration and leadership.
