Originally from Morocco and currently based in Italy, I have developed my academic and professional experience across Europe, North Africa and the wider Mediterranean. This perspective has shaped the way I understand migration, international cooperation and the relationship between institutional decisions and people’s everyday lives.

What Drives My Work

My interest in these questions began early in my academic journey, when I became deeply curious about the relationship between research, policy and everyday life. I was fascinated by how decisions made at institutional level—on migration, security, rights or access to services—can shape people’s choices, opportunities and sense of safety in very concrete ways.

That curiosity continues to guide my academic and professional path. I enjoy asking questions, understanding how systems operate and examining why policies sometimes produce very different outcomes from those originally intended.

Working directly on migration and social-inclusion initiatives made this relationship even more tangible. Issues that may appear abstract in policy documents—displacement, administrative insecurity, exploitation or exclusion—become visible in people’s daily experiences.

This is why research remains central to how I work. For me, it is not separate from practice. It is a way to understand problems more clearly, challenge assumptions and design better-informed responses.

My Work

I currently manage and coordinate EU-funded programmes and international partnerships implemented across Europe, North Africa and the wider Mediterranean. My work involves coordinating multinational consortia and connecting programme strategy with national and local implementation.

My responsibilities span different stages of the programme cycle, including:

• programme and project design;
• consortium and international partnership coordination;
• implementation and operational planning;
• institutional and stakeholder engagement;
• monitoring, evaluation and donor reporting;
• budget, risk and compliance monitoring;
• facilitation of international meetings, workshops and learning activities;
• research, knowledge development and preparation of project outputs.

I have worked across initiatives addressing migration and protection, trafficking and exploitation, gender equality, youth participation, social innovation, entrepreneurship and the inclusion of young people with learning disabilities.

Among these, I contributed to the design and writing of EmpowerHER, an AMIF-funded programme supporting migrant women who are victims or potential victims of trafficking across Italy, Greece and Spain. I now coordinate the programme at consortium level while also managing its implementation in Italy. My work therefore spans the programme cycle from project design and partnership development to implementation, monitoring, reporting, stakeholder engagement and the development of practical pathways towards protection, inclusion and economic autonomy.

I have also mentored young people developing social-innovation initiatives and contributed to international learning programmes, research, policy briefs, reports and educational materials.

Research and Academic Background

I hold a Master’s degree in International Relations: Security and Diplomacy from the University of Naples Federico II, where my research examined EU–Morocco cooperation and migration dynamics. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Studies from Mohammed V University in Rabat, where my interest in migration, identity, policy and social change first began to take shape.

My research interests centre on migration governance and human security, gender and protection, Euro-Mediterranean relations, trafficking and exploitation, and the social dimensions of international cooperation.

My published work has examined migration and security in the European Union, the sexual exploitation of women along Mediterranean migration routes, and gender and climate justice in the SWANA region. I have contributed to academic publications, policy briefs and international research initiatives, alongside research and knowledge products developed through my professional work.

How I Approach My Work

I am particularly interested in the space where strategy meets implementation.

Strong programmes require clear structures, realistic planning and accountability. They also require flexibility, cultural awareness and an understanding that the same approach cannot simply be transferred from one country or community to another.

I value making complex ideas understandable, creating structure within complicated processes and helping teams move from discussion to action. My approach combines analytical thinking, evidence-based planning, transparent coordination and sensitivity to different national and local contexts.

My work is driven by the belief that people already carry the power to create change; what’s needed is the right space, tools, and connections for that potential to flourish.
